Hollywood writer to pen Rajiv Gandhi’s biopic

Mumbai: There is a strong buzz that Ashutosh Gowariker has roped in screenplay writer and director David S Ward of ‘Sleepless In Seattle’ fame, to write the script of late Prime Minister of India Rajiv Gandhi’s biopic. Reportedly, the film will be directed by National Award winner Bhavna Talwar and the film is expected to go on floors by the end of this year. Sources confirm that Ward will spend the next year in Delhi tracking the life of the famous politician. On contacting Bhavna Talwar, she confirmed, "Yes, it`s David Ward who will write my film on Rajiv Gandhi. Initially I thought of scripting it myself but I decided against it for two reasons. One, I wanted an outsider`s perspective on Rajiv Gandhi. I know Ward`s work, he possesses the sensitivity to pull it off effectively. Secondly, if I concentrated on writing the film I`d have no time for all the other vast preparation required to start the film." Even as the makers are involved with the scripting of this movie and is yet to rope in a star to play the lead, it would be interesting to see which Bollywood hero will play the lead role!
