London: Aerosmith rocker Steven Tyler says his meanness and his commitment to excellence have made Aerosmith the rock legends. The 63-year-old rocker-turned-American Idol judge said he has been cruel to his bandmates at times but his quest for perfection has helped them all become millionaire hitmakers, a leading daily has reported.
"I`m going to be big-headed right now, OK? I think my perfectionism and my busting everyone`s chops is what got this band to where it is today. In the end, I get a really good song and in the end, I get the hits. Yeah, I`m that good," he said.
Tyler announced in late 2009 that he would be taking time off to pursue a solo career and his bandmates chose to continue without him. After a brief rehab spell, the frontman rejoined the band and they`re now about to embark on their first major tour since the bust-up, once the current season of `American Idol` is complete.
