Good news! Flying from Delhi to become cheaper from May 1

Air-tickets to get cheaper for passengers taking flight from Delhi’s IGI airport.

New Delhi: In what could bring cheers to millions of flyers from Delhi, the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India (AERA) has directed Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) to discontinue collection of airport development fee (ADF) from May 1 this year.

This would make air-tickets cheaper for passengers taking flight from Delhi’s IGI airport.

Domestic passengers currently have to pay Rs 100 per flight towards ADF while international passengers have to shell out Rs 600.

Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) is operated by Delhi International Airport Pvt Ltd (DIAL), which is a joint venture between GMR group, Airports Authority of India and Germany's Fraport AG.

The regulator had earlier allowed DIAL to levy DF through an order issued in December 2012.
