Srinagar, Aug 23: Elections for sarpanchas and panchas against left-over casual vacancies in twin districts of Ladakh region in Jammu and Kashmir would be held on September 15, according to the state election authority. As per programme, filing of nominations for left-over casual vacancies in Leh and Kargil districts would begin on August 25 while they would be scrutinised on August 28.
The last date for withdrawal of candidature has been fixed as August 30 and a formal notification for the polls would be issued on August 25.

Polls for over 700 panchayats could not be held when these were conducted on a non-party basis two years back.
