New Delhi: The government here on Wednesday decided that the NITI Aayog chief executive officer would be a part-time member of the Telecom Commission.
Earlier, this membership was given to the secretary of the Planning Commission, which has ceased to exist now.
The government hopes that the participation of NITI Aayog`s CEO in the meetings of Telecom Commission will lend value to the deliberations of the commission, because the NITI Aayog has been mandated to serve as a government think tank.
Telecom Commission was set up in 1989 with administrative and financial powers to promote rapid development in all aspects of telecommunications.
