London: Beyonce has lauded Michelle Obama, as the perfect role model for her daughter Blue Ivy Carter, in an open letter to the First Lady. The 30-year-old singer, who posted the handwritten letter on her new website, declared the White House hostess as “the ultimate example of a truly strong African-American woman.”
The singer wrote that she was ‘proud to have my daughter grow up in a world where she has people like you to look up to.’
Among the attributes of the First Lady that Beyonce most admires are the fact that she is ‘humble, loving and sincere’ despite ‘the pressure, and the stress of being under the microscope’.
The ‘Halo’ hitmaker also praises the 48-year-old for being a caring mother, and a loving wife, while at the same time being First Lady.
“She builds and nurtures her family, while also looking out for so many millions in so many ways,” a leading daily has quoted the letter.
The new mother thanked Michelle for “every single thing that u do [sic]” before signing off, “love, Beyonce”.
The open letter follows Beyonce’s support at a fundraiser Michelle hosted with Robert De Niro last month at New York’s Greenwich Hotel.
She and her husband, Jay-Z, have long been prominent supporters of President Barack Obama.
The singer has designed a T-shirt for the Runway To Win initiative, which is raising funds for the Obama re-election campaign, and last year she joined the First Lady in a Let’s Move flash workout event.
