Mumbai: Vidya Balan has refused to confirm whether she will play Carnatic music legend M.S. Subbulakshmi in a biopic made by admaker-cinematographer-filmmaker Rajiv Menon.
"M.S. Subbulakshmi is one of the greatest exponents of Carnatic classical music. Half of the country or more have woken up to her suprabhatam for decades now. If I do get to play her I will be extremely honoured. There are talks on and that`s all I will say," the 34-year-old said here Monday at the unveiling of the cover of the magazine ‘Savvy’ featuring her.
"Especially as a South Indian, I think it will be the biggest honour if I get to play M.S. Subbulakshmi," she added.
Meanwhile, Vidya, whose films ‘The Dirty Picture’ and ‘Kahaani’ ran depsite the absence of star cast, says today it doesn`t matter which actor you are working with as the "script is the hero".
"Script is the hero of the film. I think that`s what is being established more and more. To work with someone or not, I don`t think that really is a benchmark.
Vidya got the National and Filmfare Awards for best actress for ‘The Dirty Picture’ while for ‘Kahaani’ the actress won the Filmfare award for the best actress once again.
Currently, she is shooting for ‘Shaadi Ke Side Effects’with Farhan Akhtar. Besides, she will soon be seen in ‘Ghanchakkar’ opposite actor Emraan Hashmi.
