Washington: Nearly three months after announcing their separation following almost seven years of marriage, Heidi Klum has made it official and filed for divorce from Seal.

A petition, which lists irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split, was filed on Friday afternoon in Los Angeles Superior Court, the People magazine reported. Klum and Seal, who married in 2005 and have four children, announced in January that they had separated, issuing a joint statement that said: “While we have enjoyed seven very loving, loyal and happy years of marriage, after much soul-searching we have decided to separate. “We have had the deepest respect for one another throughout our relationship and continue to love each other very much, but we have grown apart,” the pair said at the time. The couple have three children together - Henry, six, Johan, five, and Lou, two. The 49-year-old also adopted Klum’s seven-year-old daughter, Leni, from her previous relationship with Italian businessman and Formula One entrepreneur Flavio Briatore. The super model is seeking joint legal custody, but primary physical custody of their four children, with visitation rights for the singer. The 38-year-old is also requesting to have her maiden name restored. She had legally changed it to Seal’s last name, Samuel, though professionally she continued to use Klum. ANI
