Washington: Google appears to have stolen the title of ‘the best place to work’ from Facebook this year, according to a survey on employee satisfaction.
Career website Glassdoor, which conducted the survey, noted this year is particularly noteworthy given Google has lagged behind Facebook in employee satisfaction for the past four years.
But the two tech giants are neck and neck in terms of what employees think of their CEOs, with Google CEO Larry Page earning a 94 percent employee approval rating, just 2 percent higher than that of Mark Zuckerberg, the Huffington Post reported.
Glassdoor’s look into compensation and benefits also showed quite similar results between the two companies.
Facebook is only slightly ahead, with 10 percent of employees finding their salary to be a highly-valued reason to work for the company, while 9 percent of Google employees cited salary as a primary incentive.
Like any job, there are bound to be downsides.
At Google, office politics and stress were more mentioned than by Facebook employees. But long hours seemed to be more of an issue at Facebook (9 percent) than at Google (3 percent).
