New Delhi: The Black Keys, Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Gotye and Mumford and Sons were among the nominees for the various award categories at the 2013 Grammy Awards.
The entire list of nominees was announced for the Oscars of the Music Industry at a gala event last night.
The
Album of the Year category was, surprisingly, an all men affair with The Black Keys, Fun, Mumford and Sons, Frank Ocean and Jack White nominated for the much sought-after award.
While Taylor Swift didn’t get into that list, her song ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ did make it to the nominations for
Record of the Year. The other contestants include Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Stronger’, Fun’s ‘We Are Young’ featuring Janelle Monae and the immensely popular ‘Somebody That I Used to Know’ by Gotye, featuring Kimbra.
British sensation Ed Sheeran had his song ‘The A Team’ nominated for
Song of the Year alongside Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Stronger’ with its second nomination, Fun’s ‘We Are Young’ and the crazily catchy and exponentially popular ‘Call Me Maybe’ by Carly Rae Jepsen.
Frank Ocean and Fun were among the nominees for
Best New Artist while Adele’s Bond anthem ‘Skyfall’ failed to make it to the relevant category’s nominations list.
The
Best World Music Album category pitted Ravi Shankar’s ‘The Living Room Sessions Part 1’ against his daughter Anoushka Shankar’s ‘Traveller’.
Last year’s Grammy girl Adele did get a nomination with her ‘Set Fire to the Rain (Live)’ getting into the list for
Best Pop Solo Performance. This category was an all-girls’ affair as the other nominees included Carly Rae Jepsen’s ‘Call Me Maybe’, ‘Stronger’ by Kelly Clarkson, ‘Wide Awake’ by Katy Perry and Rihanna’s ‘Where Have You Been’.
The Grammy Awards 2013 will take place on the 10th of February, 2013.
