Chandigarh: Footwear and apparel brand Woodland will roll out a range of wearable products for fitness freak youth, as the market for products like fitness bands is growing immensely in the country.

"We have always made products which can withstand tough conditions. Now we are going forward and will launch wearables. Today, young generation is fitness freak and they want to know how much they have burnt calories," Woodland MD, Harkirat Singh said.

The company plans to launch fitness band, watches, etc to tap the growing market.

"These fitness bands are very innovative products and you can use them for doing adventure and even in normal day-to-day life to measure the extent of activities," he said.

The company has also firmed up plan to launch outdoor sports gear like hand-free umbrella, eyewear, camping lights, trekking poles, waterproof bags, UV Block T-Shirt, wet wick t-shirt, super Shell Shoes (Snake Bite resistant)., etc.

Woodland has tied up with overseas technological partners for developing wearables and sports gear for Indian market.

"We have partners in the US, Taiwan, China and Germany which are engaged into making these products for a long time. We are going to the best companies in the world to make such products," he said.

Woodland has about 600 company-owned stores across the country and major portion of sales come from footwear and apparels.

"From e-commerce platform which is also growing rapidly, about 15 per cent company's sales comes from this segment," he said.

The company plans to open 50-60 new outlets in the next fiscal as part of its plans to deepen its footprint.

"Market is growing for us and retail is growing. But we are not over-expanding," he said.

Woodland is eyeing total turnover of Rs 1,500 crore by the end of current fiscal as compared to Rs 1,200 crore sales it attained in last fiscal.
