No ‘Satyameva Jayate’ for Karnataka!

The much anticipated and eagerly waited for TV show ‘Satyameva Jayate’ might not be able to make much of an impact in Karnataka.

Zeenews Bureau
Mumbai: The much anticipated and eagerly awaited TV show ‘Satyameva Jayate’ might not be able to make much of an impact in Karnataka. Aamir Khan’s show, which has created tremendous ripples all over the country, what with powerful advertisements and several first-times for a serial, is a complete no-no down South. Aamir Khan’s debut on TV has been chopped off from the television schedules in Karnataka, and the state will not be able to watch the show due to a self-imposed, self-enforced ban. Karnataka’s ban on dubbed serials is the reason the state will miss out on Aamir’s ‘Satyameva Jayate’. The embargo, which doesn’t appear anywhere, is one which doesn’t allow a dubbed version of any serial or movie to telecast in the state. However, the Kannada Film Industry does approve Kannada remakes of the same. Ravi Kiran, the President of Karnataka Television Association, said: “Out of 58 serials on air every day, you have so much production, post-production etc. So many people are involved, and they depend on this. Once dubbing comes, half the programmes will be imported. All actors will become dubbing actors.” Viewers have been fuming over the ban, and believe that the serial should be made available in all languages. Says a Bangalore resident: “If it comes in all languages, it will be better understanding for all the people and it will help us unite with our fellow countrymen.” ‘Satyameva Jayate’ airs on television on 6th May, 2012.
