London: Actor Benedict Cumberbatch is reportedly set to star in `Crimson Peak` opposite Emma Stone and Charlie Hunnam.
The ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ actor will be seen in Guillermo del Toro`s forthcoming haunted house thriller, which will be a classical but modern take on the ghost story, reported Contactmusic.
Information about the movie`s plot has not been fully disclosed.
"It will allow me to play with the conventions of the genre I know and love, and at the same time subvert the old rules," Toro said.
The filmmaker wrote the script with writing partner Matthew Robbins, and recently hired Lucinda Coxon, who penned "The Crimson Petal and The White", to rework his draft.
Legendary Pictures - who financed del Toro`s ‘Pacific Rim’ - are funding the movie, which is scheduled to begin filming in February 2014.
The role marks a busy time for Cumberbatch, who is currently filming the title role in the third series of TV drama ‘Sherlock’.
He can next be seen in ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’, which is released next month and then providing the voice and movement capture for Smaug the dragon in ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug’.
