Veteran actress Radha Kumari passes away

Mumbai: Renowned veteran actress Radha Kumari, known for playing the roles of mother or grandmother in many films, passed away on Thursday after a heart attack. The deceased was the wife of well-known actor Ravi Kondal Rao. Radha Kumari was 70 years old. About 600 films old in the industry, the actress is best remembered for her roles in films like ‘Bridavanam’, ‘Okarikiokaru’, ‘Chandamama’, ‘Bhairava Dweepam’ and ‘Oye’, among many others. In the forty years of her life that she had devoted to the industry since her debut in 1962 with ‘Tene Manasulu’, Radha Kumari was successful in establishing herself as a skilful character actor. Ravi Kondal Rao, Radha Kumari’s husband, was on his way to the US when tragedy struck. He was reportedly on his way back from Dubai upon receiving the news of his wife’s death.
