New Delhi: Kailash Kher says people should not just tag him as a Sufi singer because he sings other geners too and that his `Hausla` anthem is an example of that with its rock beats and energetic youthful spirit.
"I`m not only famous for Sufi songs. I sing all kind of songs with different moods. For instance, `Love sex or dhoka` for the movie `LSD`, `Chakde phate` in ` Khosla Ka Ghosla,` and `Touba touba` from the album `Kailasa`. They are not Sufi at all. I can sing all type of songs. I`m famous for soulful songs," Kher told IANS in an interview over the phone.
He became a musician after losses in his export business and it was his Sufi numbers like "Saaiyya" and "Teri deewani" that made him popuplar.
Talking about "Hausla", which he performed at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium in Dhaka during the Asia Cup, he said: "The song is not like our other songs, it`s a song with lot of energy and encouraging spirit.
"It has nothing called Sufi. Already performed it in Dhaka, Bangladesh, in front of three countries. People went crazy after listening to our song and seeing the performance."
The song is a part of Hausla Buland Movement, an initiative wherein stories of the common man`s resolve and resilience were collected across India over a period of three months.
"The song is a product of the mutual relation of corporate and creative people. It depicts the anecdotes of the real life hero, who are common people but doing uncommon things," said the Sufi singer.
Putting courage and strength together, the song has real encouraging spirit. It is penned by Javed Akhtar, composed by Kailasa band and sung by Kailash.
"They wanted me to sing and composed it through my band. The song was challenging but my band loves to face challenges. The song has a lot of rock beats, energetic with a youthful spirit."
"I also wrote a song in `Chandni Chowk To China`, which has the same spirit like `Hausla` song - the song was composed by Naresh and Paresh. This song has the same energy and motivational spirit," he added.
