Chandigarh: The first two-day 'Happening Haryana Global Investors Summit 2016' will kick off in Gurgaon Monday, which will see participation from 12 countries.
Besides several Union Ministers, a number of leading entrepreneurs and MNCs will take part in the summit.
The summit comes close on the heels of the Jat quota agitation in Haryana, in which 30 people were killed and property worth crores of rupees was destroyed.
The state government had put to rest speculation that the Summit will be postponed in view of the "prevailing atmosphere" of the state, with Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar hailing the "inherent resilience" of Haryana for the decision to continue with the summit despite "difficult times".
The participating countries are Czech-Republic, Japan, Mauritius, New Zealand, China, Korea, Malawi, Peru, Poland, Spain, the United Kingdom and Tunisia.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will be the chief guest at the inaugural session while Khattar will deliver the keynote address.
Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu, Minister for Urban Development Venkaiah Naidu and Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan will address the inaugural session.
"Also, captains of the industry will address the inaugural session," the spokesman said, adding that Haryana Industries and Commerce Minister Abhimanyu will make a presentation on Haryana.
Out of total 10 parallel sectoral sessions, 7 will be organised on the first day of the summit today.
Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar will participate in the first session on 'Make in Haryana: Manufacturing Competitiveness', which focuses on automotive, defence manufacturing, the Railways, aerospace and ease of doing business.
The second session on 'Investment and Business Opportunities in Sunrise Sectors' will be addressed by Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh.
