New Delhi: Metro fares in the National Capital Region are likely to be revised upwards in the weeks to come. The Delhi Metro’s Fare Fixation Committee (FCC) has given a nod for increasing the minimum fare from Rs 8 to Rs 10. The FCC has recommended to increase the maximum fare to Rs 50 from the existing Rs 30.

The fourth fare fixation committee that assumed charge on June 9 was to submit its report by September 8. Metro fares were last revised in 2009 while its operating expenses have increased considerably.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s (DMRC) board is the final authority that will take a final call based on the FCC’s recommendation.
