Mumbai: Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt has had longstanding association with artistes from Pakistan and hence he intends to make use of his connections in the country to free Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh.
Bhatt, while talking to a leading daily said, “I am optimistic. It`s a sad state of affairs. But we have not given up. Last when I had gone to Pakistan I came back happy as we heard that they (Pak govt.) are releasing him. Unfortunately, the day he was to be sent back, things took a U-turn. As a brother, I promise Dalbir that I will get her son back.”
The filmmaker will cross the border post Eid and has decided to speak to human rights’ group to help release Sarabjit, who is reportedly a falsely accused Indian surviving in Pakistani custody since 1990.
