Sixth international film festival to begin in Mumbai
Mumbai, Nov 20: Over 100 films drawn from 28 countries would be screened at the sixth International Film Festival- Mumbai (IFFM), beginning here today.
Mumbai, Nov 20: Over 100 films drawn from 28 countries would be screened at the sixth International Film Festival- Mumbai (IFFM), beginning here today.
The week-long festival, organised by the Mumbai Academy of Moving Images (MAMI), would be inaugurated by state Chief Minister, Sushilkumar Shinde and screening of Chinese film `Warriors of Heaven and Earth', which has music by renowned music director A R Rehman.
Noted film maker Vijay Anand and veteran musician Naushad would be felicitated with ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ and outstanding contribution to film music award respectively. The festival would include a package of French films titled `French Connection', all produced by Marin Karmitz but directed by different directors.
The NRI film section `Film India Worldwide', would have five films, including Shekhar Kapoor's `Four Feathers', while in `Blurring Boundaries' section a package of contemporary Swiss films would be screened. The festival would introduce young Italian directors in the section `River to River New Italian Eyes'.
The highlight of the festival would be a competition for Indian films to be judged by an international jury headed by renowned screenplay writer Vijay Tendulkar. A total of 13 films would compete in the section.
Special screening of a Slovak film `Sagarmatha' would be held to celebrate 50 years of scaling of Mt Everest and a retrospective of Hungarian director Zoltan Fabri has also been included to mark his 10th death anniversary.
