Los Angeles: Producer Judd Apatow has confirmed ‘Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues’ will be released in December 2013.
The highly anticipated film is the follow up to the 2004 comedy movie "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy", which stars Will Ferrell as the titular San Diego newsman, reported MTV online.
Apatow took to Twitter to confirm the news.
"One year from tomorrow `Anchorman 2` will be in theaters!! It is kind of a big deal," he posted.
Ferrell has already confirmed he will reprise the titular role for the sequel, which Adam McKay will return to direct, and Apatow said that the pair have come up with a `hilarious` script.
"Adam McKay and Will Ferrell wrote it, Adam McKay directs it and they came up with the most hilarious script. We read it a few weeks ago and people were laughing so hard that at about 40 minutes in we all just ran out of gas. It was hard to read the whole thing because we got tired from laughing," Apatow said.
"I`ve never seen anyone delight in playing a character than Will acting like Ron Burgundy all day. He`s just so happy doing it it`s infectious. I can`t give it away because it`s more secret than the next `Star Wars.` All I can say is that there are no Wookies in it. But it`s top-secret," he added.
