New Delhi: Railway e-tickets can be cancelled on via IRCTC website till the time the final chart preparation of the train has been made. For such tickets, cancellations are not allowed at face to face railway counters.

If you want to  cancel your  e-ticket, you can log on to www.irctc.co.in and go to "Booked Tickets" link and select the ticket to be cancelled and can initiate the cancellation by selecting the passengers to be cancelled.

Cancellation would be confirmed online and the refund would be credited back to the account you have used for booking.

Here are the cancellation charges that you will have to pay for a confirmed e-ticket.

A. If the ticket is presented for cancellation more than forty eight hours in advance of the scheduled departure of the train, a minimum per passenger cancellation charges shall be deducted at the flat rate.

B.

If the ticket is presented for cancellation between forty eight hours and upto twelve hours before the scheduled departure of the train.

25 percent of fare subject the minimum of the cancellation charge referred to in clause A.

C.

If the ticket is presented for cancellation within twelve hours before the scheduled departure of the train and upto four hours before the scheduled departure of the train irrespective of distance.

50 percent of fare subject to a minimum of the cancellation charge referred clause A.

- No refund of fare shall be admissible on the ticket having confirmed reservation in case ticket is not cancelled or TDR not filed online upto four hours before the scheduled departure of the train.

You will have to forfeit the following.

Transaction Charge: All banks levy a transaction charge of Rs 10. However, IDBI Bank and Bank of Baroda: Transaction does not any transaction charge for e-ticket booking.

Service charge levied is not refundable. Service Charge starts at Rs 10 and goes upto Rs 60.
