Nikasha Tawadey’s WIFW collection to celebrate the femme fatale

Known as an aesthete, designer Nikasha Tawadey is set out to interpret traditional Indian silhouette in contemporary styles.

New Delhi: Known as an aesthete, designer Nikasha Tawadey is set out to interpret traditional Indian silhouette in contemporary styles with her collection ‘Raat Ki Rani’ for the forthcoming edition of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Autumn-Winter 2013.
The five-day event will start March 13 at Pragati Maidan here. "`Raat ki Rani` interprets traditional Indian silhouettes to contemporary styles starring sharara jumpsuits, choli tanks, dhoti skirts and patiala pants," Tawadey said. She added that the ensemble is inspired by the "glamour and baroque style of the 1920s combined with the bohemian look of the 1970s. The collection celebrates the spirit of a playful femme fatale". She has used fabrics such as silk, organza, hand-woven tissue, chanderi, brocade and velvets in bright colours like rani pink, sindoori red, emerald green and midnight blue to create the outfits. "In this collection we have explored our core work and gone further in-depth to portray the experimental, empowered and sensual character of a woman. While being rooted to our brand aesthetic, we have injected a dose of glamour to the collection," she added. The designer said she will "introduce my version of the three-piece suit with a waist coat, a fitted shirt and a dhoti-inspired skirt". IANS
