Melbourne: A heartbroken diamond merchant brought himself the world’s most expensive dessert, a pudding worth 33,500, after his girlfriend broke up with him.
Carl Weininger said that the pudding was his ‘pick me up’ after his three-year relationship ended.
The chocolate-laced pudding was styled like a Faberge egg and its list of ingredients included edible gold, champagne and caviar.
It contained a gold bracelet and spoon set and the cherry on top was a two-carat diamond.
Weininger took the pudding to the Aviators’ Ball, at the Sofitel Hotel at London’s Heathrow airport, where lucky guests sampled the luxury dessert.
“Buying the dessert was a real boost for my morale… I was dumped earlier this year and felt this could be a decent pick-me-up,” News.com.au quoted him as saying.
“I’m not much of a chocolate lover myself but all the women who tasted it said ‘Wow’. It was absolutely delicious, as you would expect,” he said
The pudding’s maker is expecting to be recognised by Guinness World Records having smashed the previous record, which cost a mere 18,000 dollars.
