New Delhi: Choreographer-director Remo D`Souza has decided to copyright certain dance steps used in the song ‘Bezubaan’ from his forthcoming directorial venture ‘ABCD - AnyBody Can Dance’, to prevent infringement.
"Like a film, dance steps or sequences are creative works. If a script can have a copyright, so can songs. Why can`t dance sequences as well? I want to take this forward and copyright the sequence that I have conceived and used for the song. It`s the first number that we are rolling out," Remo said in a statement.
The song ‘Bezubaan’ features the lead actors along with Lauren Gottlieb, winner of ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ dancing in the rain.
"I don`t want this to be copied...," said Remo, who is making the copyright effective from early next week, before he releases the song.
The 3D dance-based film features performers from reality show ‘Dance India Dance’ (DID), which Remo had previously judged.
The show`s participants Salman Yusuff Khan, Dharmesh Yelande, Vrushali Chavan, Mayuresh Wadkar and Prince Gupta play central roles in the movie, which has ace choreographers Ganesh Acharya and Prabhudheva as its highlights.
In the film, Prabhudheva pays tribute to Michael Jackson by performing his signature moves in a song.
The film is slated for a Feb 8 release.
