`Chittagong` doesn`t need any promotion: Manoj Bajpayee

Actor Manoj Bajpayee, who plays Bengali freedom fighter Surya Sen in Bedabrata Pain`s upcoming project `Chittagong`, says the film does not need much promotion as it is a classic work.

New Delhi: Actor Manoj Bajpayee, who plays Bengali freedom fighter Surya Sen in Bedabrata Pain`s upcoming project "Chittagong", says the film does not need much promotion as it is a classic work.
The film recently had a star-studded premiere in Mumbai with Bollywood bigwigs such as Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan attending, but Bajpayee says the film will work on its own merit. "It is a great film and I feel proud to be associated with it. I just hope people go in large numbers to watch it film with their family. It`s a classic and doesn`t need any promotion here," Bajpayee told reporters at the ongoing Wills India Fashion Week. The 43-year-old actor said that the contribution of this unsung hero of the country has been forgotten by the youth and it`s high time that they know about Masterda Surya Sen. "This is a film about a revolutionary who fought for this country against the Britishers with the help of youngsters, even 12-year-old children. And it is all forgotten, only remembered by Bengalis as it happened in Chittagong." The film, which also stars theatre personality Barry John and Nawazuddin Siddique, will hit theatres on October 12. Bajpayee, who delivered a hit this year with ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’, will be seen next in Prakash Jha`s ‘Chakravyuh’ which will hit theatres on October 24. "It`s great working with Prakash Jha. I have worked with him in many films. It`s party time for me because this year all those films are releasing which I am proud of," he added. Bajpayee walked the ramp for designer Samant Chauhan, turning into a modern Rajputana king with sword in one hand and medals adorning his chest. He sashayed down the ramp confidently with the "Gangs Of Wasseypur" theme music playing in the backdrop. "I have been closely associated with Samant Chauhan. He requests me to walk for him each time but I couldn`t make it earlier due to my busy schedule. This time he got me out of my holiday time as I am in Delhi to visit my parents. "He is working on reviving Bhagalpuri silk, a dying craft of Bihar. This is the biggest reason why I am here. It`s a great job that he is doing and I feel privileged to associate myself with the industry which was booming once upon a time," said Bajpayee. PTI
