New Delhi: Almost everyone in India will provide you with the same answer when asked which state contributes the second-most number of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers in the country – it's Bihar. But not anymore. This data analysis has been conducted by the Business Standard.
Now the position has been bagged by Rajasthan displacing Bihar.
However, the first-position is still being enjoyed by the most populous state in the country – Uttar Pradesh.
The Business Standard report states that UP has contributed 118 IAS candidates in the past five years. Then comes Rajasthan second with 97 successful candidates.
Bihar and Andhra Pradesh are the other two big contributors with 68 and 61 IAS officers.
