New Delhi: Very soon, you will have to shell out double the charge on ticket cancellation if try to do that close to the date and time of journey.
As per reports in the media, Indian Railways is mulling to bring new rules for cancellation of tickets. The charges for ticket cancellation across all the categories will be doubled. The new rule also says that no ticket shall be cancelled after departure of train. The new rule will be implemented across the country from November 12.
Those with waitlisted or RAC tickets would have to cancel their tickets half an hour before the train's actual departure to get some refund. No cancellation will be entertained after that.
Meanwhile, the public transporter is also changing the 48 hours cancellation rules. Railways will deduct Rs 240 for AC first class/executive class, Rs 200 for AC-II tier/first class, Rs 180 for AC III-tier, Rs 120 for sleeper class and Rs 60 for second class.
A circular, reportedly also gives cancellation power to the station master. If a passenger is unable to get his/her ticket cancelled at the counter, he can approach the station master. The station master can cancel tickets issued from other stations as well however such passengers should approach him prior to approval of chart.
