London: Actor Eddie Murphy is in talks to make a `Beverly Hills Cop` TV show and may also star in it.
One of the comedian and actor`s best loved roles was as wise cracking detective Axel Foley in the three action-comedy films of the late 80s and he is working on bringing him back, reported The Rolling Stone magazine.
"What I`m trying to do with `Beverly Hills Cop` now is produce a TV show starring Axel Foley`s son, and Axel is the chief of police now in Detroit. I`d do the pilot, show up here and there," Murphy said.
The 50-year-old actor also said that he thinks the show, which he is working on with Shawn Ryan, creator of `The Shield` and Sony Pictures Television, will work better on TV.
He also said that he never thought the scripts for the three movies in the series, released between 1984 and 1994, were right.
"None of the movie scripts were right; it was trying to force this premise. If you have to force something, you shouldn`t be doing it. It was always a rehash of the old thing. It was always wrong," he said.
