Zee Media Bureau/Amartya SinhaNew Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday declared that his government is ready to boost the manufacturing sector in the country.
While addressing the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort, he said that the manufacturing sector will play a very important role in strengthening the foundations of the economy and making India an export oriented country.
He also added that the country should reduce its imports and enhance its manufacturing sector by indigenisation of technology. He said that his government will welcome any FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) in the sector. He stated that the 'Made in India' brand should be encouraged by producing 'zero defect' and 'zero effect' goods.
While addressing the public, the Prime Minister laid more stress on e-governance and telemedicine to serve the masses. He said that a digital India with widespread broadband connections will provide the last mile connectivity for spreading education into rural areas.
While addressing the issue of sustainability of the planning commission, he said that the institution must be restructured taking into consideration the ground realities of the 21st century.
