New Delhi: Union Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu, in his post-Budget interaction with media on Thursday, reiterated that aspirations, needs and concerns of common man were kept in mind while framing this years Budget.
Despite the financial implications of the seventh Pay Commission commission and Bonus Act, the Budget has tried to meet the aspirations of those who travel by train or those who have poor accessibility to train travel.
The minister added that the Budget aims at modernising, improving safety, speed, and revenue resources of the railways. The Budget will aim at augmenting freight earnings and improve railways' finances. "Future challenges were kept in mind while framing the budget", added Prabhu.
Rail Minister highlighted that for the first time National Railways Plan will be formed in the country to harmonise and integrate the rail network with other modes of transport.
Railways will be undertaking capacity augmentation in equity partnership with state governments, and new rail projects will be taken up in the partner states, Prabhu told reporters
