New Delhi: After touching a new low of 3.66 percent in August, retail inflation rose to 4.41 percent in the month of September on the back of higher prices of vegetables and fruits especially onion and pulses.

In the month of July, retail reflation stood at a multi-year low of 3.78 percent on account of cheaper food prices, including of vegetables, fruits and cereals.

The lower inflation rates in July and August had prompted the Reserve Bank of India to cut rates by 0.50 percent during its monetary policy review on September 29.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) based retail inflation for the month of September 2014 had stood at 6.46 percent, which was the lowest since the new series of Consumer Price Index was released in January 2012.
