New Delhi: The Lavasa Women’s Drive Awards held on the occasion of the International Women’s Day was attended by Bollywood celebrities in Mumbai on Thursday.
The ceremony was organised to felicitate the winners of the largest car rally.
The drive, which is also instrumental in spreading awareness about cancer, symbolizes today’s Indian woman as- vivacious, energetic, confident, independent and, most of all, having an affinity for social cause.
Speaking at the occasion, filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor said that not only women but men should also feel happy to celebrate the day.
“Today is a very amazing day, and its not like that we need only a day like Woman`s day to remind us that women are special too. In fact, this is a kind of day that men should feel happy that they have got an opportunity to celebrate like this. And, Happy Women`s Day,” he said.
Actor Shazahn Padamsee said that women have become smarter after recent events like a Delhi rape case.
“I think the recent events, be it a Delhi rape case and many more cases. I think today women in India have woken up and we have a lot of supporters now. Thanks to causes like the lavasa and various other things,” he said.
Besides the car rally, the event also included various exciting fun-filled activities near the Lavasa lakeside promenade and this year was extra special as this was the fifth edition of the drive.
