Mumbai: We all know that Shah Rukh Khan is exhilarated ever since his team, Kolkata Knight Riders, won the Indian Premiere League. The actor, who has perhaps outdone the cricketers in celebrating the team’s victory, now has big plans for the team for the next season of IPL.
Among other things, the actor is thinking of changing the team’s anthem and wants R&B singer Akon to sing it.
The anthem ‘Korbo Lorbo Jeetbo Re’ was initially sung by Vishal Dhadlani and composed by Vishal-Shekhar. Speaking to a daily, Vishal said, "It will be a newer version of Korbo Lorbo Jeetbo Re." The song was also penned along with filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh.
"The anthem is all about celebrations after a long wait of five years. It`s about victory which was finally witnessed," Vishal added.
Vishal also reveals that since it is a Kolkata team, the song will reflect the “fun-filled Bengali culture”.
So is Akon going to be crooning the new anthem? "I am still not sure of any such development. I am in constant touch with Akon and so is SRK. Nothing has been finalised yet," said Vishal.
Sujoy also confirmed the news and added, "I think the word I would associate with Shah Rukh Khan and his team this time would be ‘Rongbaaj’. I loved SRK and the team`s attitude through the IPL. The way Team Kolkata won the finals, they have every right to put their collars up. And Rongbaaj perfectly fits the bill."
Will the new phrase be included in the song? Sujoy says he is yet to speak to Vishal about it.
Akon, who was roped in for SRK’s ‘RA.One’, had sung two songs in the film. ‘Chammak Chhallo’ and ‘Criminal’ both had Hindi lyrics and Akon pulled it off with élan. Now, if he is roped in for KKR’s new anthem, it would be interesting to see the Senegalese American singer crooning Bangla lyrics!
