Mumbai: Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi’s inclination to underworld genre of films is undeniable. After making his mark in films like ‘Company’ and ‘Shoot At Lokhandwala’, Vivek plans to play dreaded gangster Dawood Ibrahim in an upcoming project.
The actor was reportedly offered a similar role to essay in Sanjay Gupta’s ‘Shootout At Wadala’, but he turned down the offer on the pretext of a weak script.
However, Vivek seemed to have changed his mind and is preparing to act in the new biopic on Dawood, the shooting of which is expected to start next year.
The biopic aims to unravel the cult status achieved by world’s most dreaded don – Dawood Ibrahim, besides showcasing his human side.
The project will be backed by Amit Chandrra, who is also producing Vivek’s upcoming ‘Kismet Love Paisa Dilli’ which also stars Mallika Sherawat.
A source close to Chandra said, “The makers are yet to start their research for the film. Plans were afoot to begin the project sometime in 2012, but since Vivek is caught up with back-to-back films this year, they have pushed it to 2013.”
Meanwhile Amit Chandrra said, “It’s an idea we are all very excited about, but things are still at a very nascent stage. Let’s see how it goes.”
“Amit isn’t in a hurry either, since such a project will need extensive homework”, said a source.
