New Delhi, June 13: Unearthing a typical movie-style plan to engineer escape of an inmate from a prison, Delhi Police have arrested three persons for allegedly helping a hardcore Pakistani terrorist in his attempt to flee from high security Tihar Jail here last month.
Abdul Razzak, hailing from Narowal area of Pakistan, had tried to escape from the jail by impersonating as another inmate whose arrest had been arranged as part of the plan, police said.
The plan, in which four persons helped Razzak, was foiled when the impersonation was detected at the prison gate because of differing identification marks, police said.
Razzak was lodged in Tihar since January 2000 in a case of waging war against the state and under various sections of the Explosive Substance Act, Arms Act and Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act after being arrested along with seven other Pakistanis.
A large quantity of arms, ammunition and explosives including 15 kgs of RDX, two revolvers, two timer-pencils, five detonators and 50.6 kgs of heroin were recovered from the terrorists who were responsible for several explosions in Delhi, Haryana and Jammu, police said.
Razzak hatched the conspiracy with Farookh, Mohd Rehman, and Mohd Rakid, all of whom were lodged in Tihar, police said, adding Razzak promised to pay Rs six lakh to them.
