Mumbai: Jackky Bhagnani found it difficult to break people`s notion that being a producer`s son, he would have got everything easily. And the situation became worse after his first film ‘Kal Kissne Dekha’ didn`t do well at the box office.
"If my first film would have done well, no one would have questioned me about being a star kid. Maybe I didn`t choose the right film, Jackky, who is the son of renowned Bollywood producer Vashu Bhagnani, told IANS in an interview.
"If you are a producer`s son you are never given that benefit of doubt of being new. I had to be good from my first film," he added.
Jackky made his Bollywood debut with ‘Kal Kissne Dekha’ in 2009 and later did Remo D`Souza`s ‘F.A.L.T.U’ in 2011, which was critically acclaimed.
"There is a 50 percent jump in the response of each of my film. So I think I should be happy. During `F.A.L.T.U`, there was another film releasing on the same day, `Game` and we were nothing in comparison to them. So I was very nervous. It was not a `make or break` situation, but somewhere people were making it sound like that," he said.
Jackky sports eight-pack abs in his new film ‘Ajab Gazabb Love’ and says he worked really hard on it. The actor says he wants to change people`s perception that everything comes easily for a star kid.
"I am an actor, whatever the film requires I do. And someone like me who was a fat boy and who lost weight, which had no background of having a good body... it adds on to you, people take you more seriously. Also I wanted to prove something, because people have this notion that I got it easy. So if I make a body like this, people will know it`s not easy," he said.
"We as human beings want things to come easily to us. But we know that is not possible and we need to work hard. So if you have a perception that someone has got it easy, you don`t like it. So I was a victim of that. When people saw my hard work now, the perception broke," he said.
The actor is keen to work on different genres of films.
"`F.A.L.T.U` had a strong message in a realistic way. This (`Ajab Gazabb Love`) is romance and has lots of comedy. It is very commercial. My film after this is `Rangrezz`, an action flick that is serious. I am playing a middle-class boy. I am trying to do as much as I can," he said.
