London: Beyonce is covering ‘Back To Black’, one of Amy Winehouse’s most iconic tracks, for the soundtrack to the forthcoming Hollywood remake of ‘The Great Gatsby’.
The track is a perfect fit for the Twenties novel by F Scott Fitzgerald, whose hits also include ‘The Beautiful And The Damned’.
The R and B singer, who will duet with ANDRE 3000 from OUTKAST on the song, is planning to give it an original spin, the Sun reported.
“The track was perfect for the film but the whole idea of the 2013 picture is to give everything a new twist,” a source said.
Beyonce has been handed the gig by her husband JAY-Z, executive producer on the Gatsby soundtrack.
Jay-Z is contributing new songs to the project too and has booked Jack White to cover U2’s ‘Love Is Blindness’ for the soundtrack album.
