Los Angeles: Actors Bryan Cranston and Elizabeth Olsen are in talks to star in a new movie adaptation of `Godzilla`.
The `Breaking Bad` star has been approached to play the stepfather of leading man Aaron Taylor-Johnson, while 23-year-old Olsen is in negotiations to portray the `Savages` hunk`s girlfriend, reported Ace Showbiz.
Production on the project, to be directed by Gareth Edwards, is expected to begin in March with a projected release in May, 2014.
`Godzilla` has Drew Pearce, Frank Darabont and Max Borenstein serving as the scribes. The project has been generating positive early buzz from fans since it was teased at last year`s San Diego Comic-Con.
The mutated comic book lizard last ran rampant on the big screen in Roland Emmerich`s 1998 sci-fi thriller, starring Matthew Broderick, Jean Reno and Hank Azaria.
Olsen, known for her roles in a number of well-reviewed indie movies, has recently appeared in Sundance hits `Kill Your Darlings` and `Liberal Arts`. Her next project will be `Oldboy` remake to be directed by Spike Lee.
Cranston, meanwhile, was last seen in the big screen in Ben Affleck`s Oscar-nominated `Argo`. As for Johnson, he will reprise his titular role in upcoming `Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall`, which will hit theaters on June 28.
