New Delhi: It was perhaps ironical that noted film critic Nikhat Kazmi succumbed to breast cancer on a Friday. The critic whose movie reviews were read every Friday by thousands of people on the third page of The Times Of India, wrote her last review of ‘Challis Chaurasi’ on 13 January, breathed her last in New Delhi today morning. She was 53.
Nikhat joined TOI in 1987 and was a senior correspondent and film critic for the newspaper. Her columns and specially her movie reviews were widely read and followed by stars as well as cinema enthusiasts alike. In spite of her illness, she reviewed almost every film for TOI.
Her in-depth and somewhat generous reviews of films on every Friday will surely be missed.
May her soul rest in peace.
