Mumbai: Monica Bedi, seen in a negative role in TV serial "Saraswatichandra", is amazed at the kind of love and recognition television is fetching her.
"I knew that television had grown tremendously and you become a household name. TV is very important and very big. It`s the best way to reach the hearts of audiences, people are addicted to serials," she said.
"But I never knew that you get so much love, your work is noticed so fast, and you start getting awards," she added.
The 35-year-old was speaking Thursday on the sidelines of All India Achievers awards.
"Saraswatichandra", which comes on Star Plus and Doordarshan, is Sanjay Leela Bhansali`s production.
Bollywood starlet Monica`s journey on the small screen started with "Bigg Boss 2". The reality show marked a new beginning for the actress who was extradited along with gangster Abu Salem from Portugal in 2005 and lodged in jail in a fake passport case.
Before that, Monica had worked in films like "Aashique Mastane", "Surakshaa", "Jaanam Samjha Karo", "Jodi No. 1", and "Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat".
Now, once again she is keen to do something in Bollywood.
"I am getting a lot of offers for serials, but right now I am concentrating on this (`Saraswatichandra`) and it is very time consuming. Besides this, I would like to do something in Bollywood next," Monica said.
"There is a very nice script and I hope the movie takes off. It`s a thriller and again my role is something very challenging," she added.
