Milan: Italian fashion designer Gerogio Armani has teamed up with Oscar winning actor Sean Penn, CEO of J/P Haitian Relief Organisation, to improve water conditions in Haiti.
Two fragrances by Armani - `Acqua di Gio` and `Acqua di Gioia`, inherently in harmony with this theme, will help generate donation of 100 litres of drinking water per year to children and their communities with every bottle sold.
The Acqua for Life Campaign will donate a USD 500,000 to benefit the Water, Sanitation, Hygiene (WASH) activities overseen by J/P HRO.
"Sean is a man cut from a rare cloth?his extraordinary talent, first as an actor, then as a director, and now as a life changer has captivated me. It is an honour to take part in the important humanitarian activities in which he is involved.
"His work is perfectly in line with the Acqua for Life program, so joining forces was a natural step. Our great understanding and mutual respect have made this collaboration a truly gratifying experience," Armani said in a statement.
The Acqua for Life project was created in light of a fundamental consideration: water is one of the most important elements of life, yet in many parts of the world, it is difficult to not only supply, but even have access to it.
"Giorgio Armani has been an incredibly generous partner to J/P HRO through the years with steadfast support that has helped our organisation continue its crucial efforts in Haiti.
"With Acqua for Life`s campaign extending its reach in Haiti, J/P HRO will work to improve water supply and management which has a direct impact on accessibility, health and sustainability," Penn said.
Following the tragic earthquake of 2010, J/P Haitian Relief Organisation began working to improve conditions in Haiti.
