Delhi: The steady sunshine outside was no match for what ensued inside the halls of Pragati Maidan this afternoon. The first day of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week - Spring/Summer 2013 was a riot of colours, designs and more. Designers Payal Pratap and Anand Kabra kicked the event off in style - and how! `Gates of Dawn`, Payal Pratap`s creation saw an amalgam of costumes that were bohemian in spirit and urban in appeal. The fabric used appeared exceedingly light-weight and the unique mesh of geometric embroidery, cross-stitches and hand-carved detailing made for an extremely enjoyable watch. Among the clothes and accessories on display were structured yokes, layered chevrons and geometric formations. Several creations - cross between a choli and the maxi dress - appeared like a piece out of some Nomadic civilisation! Colour blocked sarees, sheer net transparencies with bangle sleeves and tonal embroidery detailing were among the other creations by Payal Pratap. Anand Kabra`s `Taramati` - a tribute to the eponymous courtesan from the interiors of Golconda whose love for Sultan Abdullah Qutub Shah (the 7th Sultan of Golconda) - was as varied and as appealing as the life of the courtesan. Taramati, whose history was recorded neither in literature nor in art, finds her immortalisation in Anand Kabra`s creation which was displayed at the opening of the WLIFW today. Kabra`s creation consists of fabric like malkha, cotton, lightweight silk, georgette, chiffon and crepe de chine and presented a mesmerising sight on the ramp. The print replicated those of inlay tiles and fragmented mosaic. Created around the colour schemes of lime and gold, royal blue, ivory and white, kohl black and `alta` red, Anand Kabra pulled off an extraordinary vision with his `Taramati`. Payal Pratap and Anand Kabra were instrumental in weaving an exceedingly commendable start to the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week - Spring Summer 2013.
