Mumbai: Shares of Tata Motors rallied over 6 percent, adding Rs 4,857 crore to its market valuation Monday, on smart sales data for September and reports that Jaguar Land Rover US sales soared.

After climbing 8.41 percent to Rs 322 in intra-day trade, shares of the company finally ended at Rs 315.20, up 6.13 percent on BSE.


The stock was the top gainer on Sensex.


At NSE, the stock rallied 5.84 percent to Rs 315.15.


Following the surge in the stock, the company's market valuation climbed Rs 4,856.61 crore to Rs 90,605.61 crore.


In terms of volume, 11.90 lakh shares of the company changed hands at BSE and over one crore shares were traded at NSE during the day.


Tata Motors' sales of passenger cars in September were higher by 5 percent at 10,226 units, as compared to 9,766 units in same period of last year.


The stock also rallied on reports that Tata Motors September US JLR sales have risen sharply.


In the stock market, the BSE benchmark Sensex rose sharply by 564.60 points to 26,785.55.
