New Delhi: ‘Son of Sardar’ star Sonakshi Sinha, who will be seen shaking a leg to ‘Thank God It’s Friday’ in Sajid Khan’s ‘Himmatwala,’ has revealed that she enjoyed doing the retro number.
Talking about her retro avatar in the Ajay Devgn starrer, the 25-year-old actress said, “My golden outfit is inspired by Parveen Babi in a song from the film ‘Shaan’. It’s not a complete copy though, as the headband was our idea. The black leather tights look is inspired by Sridevi in ‘Chaalbaaz’ and also the music diva of the 80s, Madonna.”
On being quizzed by a tabloid about what tempted her to do the number, Sona said, “When Sajid told me about the looks I would be sporting in the song, I grabbed the opportunity. People say there is an old-world charm about me so I made use of it in the song.”
“The last time I met Sunidhi on the sets of talent show ‘Indian Idol’, I asked her when she was going to sing for me. And that wish came true through this song. Chinni Prakash sir is one of the best choreographers from the 80s and he has done a wonderful job too,” Junior Shotgun added.
And does the stunning beauty frequently finds herself saying “Thank God It’s Friday”?
“I work on almost every day of the week so a Friday doesn’t particularly stand out, but yes, there is something about the weekend drawing closer that makes you want to say, ‘Thank God It’s Friday’ regardless of your schedule,” the actress confessed.
Well, we hope Sonakshi successfully brings back the 80’s magic on the silver screen with this number.
