Adult comedy or musical drama - what`s your pick this Friday?

One is an adult comedy, the other a social issue-oriented musical drama.

New Delhi: One is an adult comedy, the other a social issue-oriented musical drama. This Friday, watch out for dollops of fun in ‘Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum’ and a hint of education and enlightenment in ‘Aalaap’.
‘Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum’, a sequel to 2005 film ‘Kyaa Kool Hain Hum’ promises a double dose of entertainment as actor-duo Riteish Deshmukh and Tusshar Kapoor team up after seven years for the sex comedy. Directed by Sachin Yardi, the film revolves around brothers Adi (Tushar), an aspiring hero and Sid (Riteish), a disc jockey (DJ). Anu (Neha Sharma) plays Adi`s cousin and also his love interest, while former beauty queen Sarah Jane Dias plays sidekick to Sid`s character. Actors Chunky Pandey and Anupam Kher will also be seen in the film, co-produced by Ekta and Shobha Kapoor. ‘Kyaa Super Kool...’ has been in the news for its bold and punchy dialogues, heard through its trailers. The film`s songs have already set the mood with wacky lyrics in tracks like "Teri shirt da button" and "Dil garden garden ho gaya". The film is releasing with an `A` certificate, allowing only adult audiences in theatres. Ekta believes the audience has grown up and `kool` with adult jokes. "It`s an adult-comedy. We had a `Delhi Belly` last year. It clearly shows India has got a sense of humour now. We are okay with adult jokes because we crack them in our everyday lives," she said. Brother Tusshar seconds her opinion saying that the genre has become cool and trendy. "Today, everybody is ready for it. They are accepting all kinds of cinema. Nobody is ashamed or embarrassed to watch a sex comedy. India has opened up and we are being very honest with the publicity of our film," said Tusshar. The all-India distribution rights of the film were sold for Rs.21.60 crore to a Nagpur-based distributor. Also releasing with ‘Kyaa Super Kool...’ is director Manish Manikpuri`s small budget film ‘Aalaap’. It features Amit Purohit, Pitobash Tripathy, Harsh Rajput, Aabid Shamim, Abhimanyu Singh, Ruhi Chaturvedi, Rituparna Sengupta, Onkardas Manikpuri, Murli Sharma and Raghubir Yadav. ‘Aalaap’ is the journey of a Chhattisgarh-based rock band that promises to be the voice of the youth and promises to fight violence with music. Produced by Nishant Tripathi and Abhishek Mishra of Shri Shankaracharya Arts, the film was shot in dense forests of Chhattisgarh and the borders of the volatile state. IANS
