New Delhi: Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, who has been convicted under the Arms Act for his role in the 1993 Mumbai bombings, will move the Supreme Court by filing a review petition against its March 21 judgment. The petition, which has been prepared by a Delhi-based legal team, will most probably be filed in a day or two. If the plea is suspended, a curative petition can also be filed. On March 21, the Supreme Court sent Dutt to five years in prison. He was given four weeks to surrender. The actor, who was convicted under the Arms Act for illegally possessing weapons, had been awarded six years imprisonment by the TADA (Terrorists and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act) court. However, the SC reduced the sentence from six years to five years. This effectively means that Dutt will be in jail for three years and six months as he has already undergone 18 months imprisonment. The actor had earlier made it clear that he had not applied for pardon and would surrender to the authorities as per the Supreme Court order in the 1993 Bombay bomb blasts case.
