Delhi: The re-make of the 1973 blockbuster ‘Zanjeer’, from what had last been heard, had sailed through the troubled legal patches. However, seems like the release of the new ‘Zanjeer’ is not happening anytime soon – given the fact that the Supreme Court has ordered a stay over the same.
‘Zanjeer’ had been cleared for release by the Bombay High Court earlier; but apparently, the Supreme Court has ordered the arbitrator to complete the proceedings of arbitration within the next six weeks.
Producer Amit Mehra’s brothers, Sumeet and Punit, had terminated the contract that gave Amit the re-make rights for the film. The reason for termination of the contract was cited as the non-payment of dues.
The remake of ‘Zanjeer’ stars Priyanka Chopra, Ram Charan Teja, Mahie Gill, Sanjay Dutt and others. The film was supposed to have released this June.
