India welcomes lifting of sanctions against Libya
New Delhi, Sept 15: India today welcomed a United Nations Security Council resolution lifting sanctions imposed on Libya after the Lockerbie crash of a Pan-AM jetliner.
New Delhi, Sept 15: India today welcomed a United Nations Security Council resolution lifting sanctions imposed on Libya after the Lockerbie crash of a Pan-AM jetliner.
Referring to the U N Security Council resolution 1506
adopted on September 12, External Affairs Ministry spokesman
said, "India has consistently supported Libya on sanctions
issue in the U N and NAM fora, particularly during Indian
terms of the UN Security Council in 1992."
The spokesman said "we hope that the lifting of sanctions would contribute to Libya's economic development and promote bilateral cooperation in different fields."
