Kolkata: In a never-before creative initiative to register Kolkata`s voice for a world with zero-tolerance towards crime, particularly women, percussionist Tanmoy Bose will try his own brand of fusion rhythm along with many other leading musical figures of the world.
Called `Kolkata Fusion Fiesta 2013`, the concert will witness live performances from musical greats like Trilok Gurtu, Mother Jane, Prem Joshua and Sivamani along with Tanmoy and his global Taltantra band having instrumentalists from Germany.
“Beginning on February 8 the three-day extravaganza, with support from the American Center, will be our statement against the rise in cases of violence and attacks on women, here and elsewhere. Music is the best medium to let your voice heard, music is the sole medium to reach hearts and make people act,” Tanmoy, who had drummed up beats with legends like late Ravi Shankar and Amjad Ali Khan in concerts all over the world, told reporters here last evening.
“This is one initiative where Kolkata music aficionados as well as ordinary folks will be able to savour a slice of world music”, Tanmoy said.
"We also have plans to hold fusion events at my place", he said.
In a multi-pronged fusion exercise, there will be gelling of different art forms with several events taking place simultaneously but never striking a discordant note, Tanmoy said adding he had seen such exercises abroad.
