Chennai: Rebuffing all rumours circulating around the release of his forthcoming film ‘Vishwaroopam’, actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan says the movie will hit the screens worldwide Jan 25.
"Based on unstinted support of theatre owners and distributors fraternity, `Vishwaroopam` will release on Jan 25," Kamal said in a statement.
"My film (`Vishwaroopam`) will be released in not less than 500 screens in Tamil Nadu," he added.
‘Vishwaroopam’ was scheduled to first premier on Direct-To-Home (DTH) platform Jan 10, but the event was called off following stiff protests by theatre owners. However, Kamal Haasan has now reiterated that the film will also be released via DTH, but the date has not been finalised yet.
"I appreciate the exhibitors and distributors for having understood my vision of creating new revenue stream for film producing community through DTH," said Kamal Haasan.
The film, which stars Kamal in the title role, also features Andrea Jeremiah and Pooja in the lead. Rahul Bose, Shekhar Kapur and Jaideep Ahlawat are among other actors in the movie.
Kamal, 58, has written, directed and produced ‘Vishwaroopam’, which will also be released in Telugu with the same name, while in Hindi it will release as ‘Vishwaroop’.
Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy have composed the music for the film, which has cinematography by Sanu Verghese.
